MITIGATION DEFINED
What Is Water Damage Mitigation?
Water damage mitigation is the process of minimizing and preventing further damage after water intrudes into your property. It is not rebuilding or reconstruction — it is the critical first phase that stops damage from spreading and prepares your property for repairs.
Mitigation includes water extraction, structural drying, demolition of damaged materials, mold prevention and full insurance documentation. Every hour without mitigation allows damage to spread deeper into walls, floors and structural components.
Champion Cleaning Systems' IICRC certified technicians respond within 60 minutes and handle the entire mitigation process — from first extraction to final handoff to your contractor.

THE FULL PROCESS
What Happens Step By Step
Here is exactly what Champion Cleaning Systems does from the moment you call to the moment we hand off your property.
1
Emergency Response — Within 60 Minutes
The moment you call Champion Cleaning Systems our dispatcher immediately routes the nearest certified team to your location. We arrive within 60 minutes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Fast response is the single most important factor in minimizing damage and cost.
2
Damage Assessment & Moisture Mapping
Our first responders use advanced moisture meters and infrared cameras to map all affected areas — including hidden moisture inside walls, floors and ceilings. This assessment determines the full scope of damage and drives the entire mitigation plan.
3
Water Extraction
Industrial truck-mounted and portable extraction units remove all standing and absorbed water immediately. We extract from carpet, flooring, wall cavities and subfloors. The faster water is extracted the less structural damage occurs.
4
Structural Drying — 3 to 5 Days
Industrial dehumidifiers and high-speed air movers are strategically placed throughout affected areas. Moisture levels are monitored and documented daily. Drying typically takes 3 to 5 days depending on the extent of damage and materials involved.
5
Demolition of Damaged Materials
Any materials that cannot be properly dried — including drywall, insulation, flooring and structural components — are carefully removed and disposed of. This prevents mold growth and prepares the structure for rebuilding. Champion Cleaning Systems does not rebuild — we prepare your property for your contractor.
6
Mold Prevention Treatment
Antimicrobial treatments are applied to all affected surfaces to prevent mold growth. Mold can begin developing within 24 to 48 hours of moisture exposure — our treatment eliminates this risk before it becomes a larger problem.
7
Insurance Documentation & Contractor Handoff
Throughout the entire process we maintain detailed photo and written documentation of all damage and work performed. This documentation is provided directly to your insurance company. Your property is then fully prepped and ready for your contractor to begin rebuilding.

FOR HOMEOWNERS
What You Need To Know During Mitigation
📞
Stay Available By Phone
Our team will call with daily updates on drying progress and any changes to the scope of work.
🏠
You Can Stay In Your Home
In most cases you can remain in your home during mitigation unless sewage or severe structural damage is involved.
📋
Contact Your Insurance Early
Call your insurance company as soon as possible. Champion Cleaning Systems will handle all documentation and work directly with your adjuster.
⏱️
Do Not Rush The Drying Process
Proper drying takes 3 to 5 days. Rushing this step leads to hidden moisture and mold growth inside walls and floors.
📸
Document Everything Yourself Too
Take photos of damage before cleanup begins. This supports your insurance claim and gives you a personal record.
🚫
Do Not Use Fans Or Heat
Household fans and heaters can spread contamination and push moisture deeper into materials. Leave drying to our industrial equipment.
